Foundation
The 1675 Foundation is a private family foundation dedicated to promoting and supporting excellence in the education, health, human services, watershed and environmental issues, and history. In 1947, Marian S. and John H. Ware 3rd founded the Oxford Foundation. In 2004, the Oxford Foundation restructured, creating four separate foundations. The 1675 Foundation is one of those new creations.
Carol Ware Gates is the Chairman of 1675 Foundation and continues the Ware family tradition of using philanthropy to enhance the lives of families and institutions primarily throughout Chester County and, occasionally, Lancaster County and Southeastern Pennsylvania.
In 2004-5, the 1675 Foundation Board of Directors resourcefulness and leadership will sustain and enhance the founders original charitable grantmaking vision.
