The Conservation Center is a non-profit organization established for the purpose of preserving Maine’s natural resources and environment and providing basic educational programs to all people to encourage proper wildlife and natural resource management.
Programs include the raptor education program, for which Mr. Howell visits schools throughout the greater Maine area with a bald eagle and great horned owl. Children have the opportunity to see these raptors at close range and perhaps touch them.
The Refuge and Conservation Center also hosts frequent class trips by local school children. A 50+ acre tract of land south of Lycette road serves as a wildlife management area, complete with a large pond stocked with trout., and camping area for scouting and environmental groups.
