The Foundation, an educational non-profit organization, practices and teaches land stewardship and sustainable use of natural resources, and interprets the natural and cultural resources of the Tidewater Potomac.The Accokeek Foundation was established in 1957 to preserve the land directly across the Potomac River from George Washington`s Mount Vernon.
Our programs blend history, ecology and economics, educating people of all ages about responsible land management–past, present and future.
