The Objectives of ASH Ireland are:
Education:
To advance the education of the public concerning the effects and impact of cigarette and other forms of smoking on the health of the community and the individual so as to reduce the toll of disease, disability and death caused by smoking.
Research:
To promote, implement and encourage research into smoking and health, and to publish, disseminate and communicate information for the benefit of the health of the community at large.
Legislation:
To monitor Irish and European Legislation as well as relevant legislation elsewhere; and to take action to promote greater control of the advertising, sale and use of tobacco products through advocacy at local, national and European levels.
Children:
To preserve and protect the health of children and young persons by generating campaigns aimed at protecting them from tobacco promotion and the dangers of tobacco addiction.
ASH campaigns for the right to smoke-free air for all persons in their workplaces, all public places and all forms of public transport, so that non-smoking should become the accepted norm in society.
