ADP-ZID PROFILE

ADP-Zid is an independent Montenegrin non-governmental organization established on December 26, 1996. It was initially created as a student’ organization named KSG [Club of Civil Engineering Students]. In May 1998, it changed its name into the Association for Democratic Prosperity – Zid [ADP-Zid]. ADP-Zid is one of the most active NGOs in the country. It focuses on advocacy and civil society development, independent media, and regional cooperation.

ADP-Zid’s vision is:

A developed society of equal opportunity for all to participate fully in social, economic, and political life, in order to achieve both individual and societal goals.

ADP-Zid’s mission is:

ADP – ZID promotes and strengthens participation of individuals and organizations in the transition process through implementation of innovative initiatives that foster democratic process.

ADP-Zid specific objectives include:

• To strengthen the role of NGOs in a developing democratic society as well as the relationships between the NGO sector and government, media, and business sectors;

• To improve the organizational structures and strengthen the operation of NGOs in order to ensure their accountability and sustainability;

• To improve transparency, objectivity, and availability of information provided to the Montenegrin public;

• To increase the participation of volunteers in NGO activities and community development;

• To contribute to the regional cooperation and, therefore, to the stability and democratic development in South East Europe; and

• To increase public space for dialogue and cultural expression.

Major ADP-Zid programs include the Montenegro Advocacy Program, Magazine Zid, Volunteer Center, Civil Sector Development Program, and Regional Programs.

ADP – Zid’s mission is to promote and strengthen participation of individuals and organizations in the process of civil society development through implementation of innovative programs that foster democratic processes and contribute to community development.
