Serving the communities of northwestern Minnesota including Kittson, Roseau, Lake of the Woods, Marshall, Polk, Pennington, and Red Lake counties.
Purpose:
The Wetlands, Pines and Prairie Audubon Sanctuary [WPPAS] is an environmental education center for people with a wide range of interests. From school children discovering the many wonders of nature, through adults learning how to recapture that youthful curiosity, the Sanctuary provides the opportunity to learn and grow in environmental awareness.
Agassiz Audubon Society, a Minnesota Chapter of the National Audubon Society, operates the Sanctuary. The sanctuary provides a base of operation, which allows Agassiz Audubon to maintain a permanent headquarters and to provide regional programming.
Goals & Objectives:
* Provide on-site and regional environmental education to schools, community groups, the public, and Audubon/Sanctuary members.
* Manage the Sanctuary`s resources for increased floral and faunal diversity.
* Develop demonstration areas and interpretive trails for land and wildlife management practices.
