The Alaska Craftsman Home Program, Inc. (ACHP) is an educational building industry alliance that promotes energy-efficient housing that is cost-effective, healthy, and durable.
ACHP is the first program of its kind in the United States. It was formed with the assistance of the State of Alaska Office of Energy Programs, in conjunction with the University of Alaska Cooperative Extension service, Energy Rated Homes of Alaska, and the Alaska State Home Builders Association. ACHP was formed in 1987 following patterns set by the Canadian R-2000 program, and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1989. Since its beginings, ACHP has provided education in energy-efficient building technology throughout the state of Alaska.
