[imgur:23.gif:]Our Mission
The UW NIEHS Center for Ecogenetics and Environmental Health strives to understand and communicate how genetic factors influence human susceptibility to environmental health risks.
Our Research Theme:
Biochemical and molecular mechanisms underlying human variability in response to environmental exposures.
Our Goals:
– Foster collaborations between investigators working in toxicology, molecular biology, genetics, and environmental epidemiology
– Apply basic research on biomarkers of disease susceptibility to studies in human populations
– Catalyze development of multi-investigator grants in the research core areas, emphasizing studies that integrate human toxicology, genetics, and epidemiology
– Support community outreach and education that informs the public about ecogenetics and encourages environmental health education in the broader community.
