Environmentally and socially responsible urban development
EU enlargement will entail an increase in traffic volume and a rise in the number of passenger cars, especially in the accession countries. As a result, the social and environmental strains caused by traffic will also increase. In order for traffic to develop in a suitable way, it is therefore necessary to minimise the emission of greenhouse gas, pollutants and noise as well as the asphalting over of natural spaces (urban sprawl). At the same time, the mobility needs of the general public should be met. In order to achieve these goals. citizens need to become involved in European traffic policy.
Our Goals:
– Strengthening of cooperation between different institutions in Central and Eastern European cities in the field of mobility and local agenda 21
– Improvement of quality of life in public areas
– Development and continuous support of individual projects with citizen participation
– Promotion of a change in lifestyle by means of information and education
– Organisation of international conferences and meetings.
