FSC Working Group Czech Republic (abbreviated in Czech as FSC CR) is an independent non-governmental, non-profit organization and at the same time a national FSC initiative active in the Czech Republic. It has been accredited by FSC in October 2004.
FSC WG CZ:
1) Promotes, and through the introduction of FSC forest certification also actively supports, nature-friendly forest management, wood as a renewable resource, and wood products with the FSC logo;
2) Offers counseling on the basis of the FSC principles during certification of forests and timber-processing enterprises;
3) Creates (and later revises according to need) FSC standards fitting the environmental and socio-economic conditions in the Czech Republic. A standardization committee works on this task; it is divided into three sections defined by their experts’ main interests: economic, social, and ecological.
4) It monitors the certification process on the territory of the Czech Republic.
The FSC forest certification working group in the Czech Republic is open to all individuals and representatives of organizations related to forests and forestry. Members of FSC CR must support the FSC aims and objectives and agree with FSC WG CZ’s statutes. Each member has the possibility to affect the FSC certification process in the Czech Republic, especially as regards national standards.
