Welcome to the New Zealand Water Environment Research Foundation, a non-profit organisation providing national independent management of research in science, engineering and management practices in the fields of drinking water, wastewater, stormwater and waste.
We provide national coordination of research activities in New Zealand`s water environment and provide the means to facilitate and broker research activities between research users, funders and providers. This includes raising funding and commissioning projects for research projects with national priority.
Our vision is to be the pre-eminent knowledge and research foundation of New Zealand that protects, enhances and sustains our water environment for our country`s children.
To increase knowledge and understanding of New Zealand`s water cycle from source to sea and its interaction with our environment by identifying, supporting and commissioning basic and applied research which enhances water quality programmes and systems for New Zealand`s environment.
To encourage and support research programmes that develop a coordinated cross-disciplinary approach to drinking water, wastewater, stormwater and waste management issues for environmental protection, economic growth and social development.
To report, disseminate and monitor research results to promote a better understanding of New Zealand`s water environment and the sustainable management and development of resources.
To support programmes within New Zealand and globally that facilitate the interaction between practitioners, educators, researchers, decision-makers and the community.
