World Computer Exchange (WCE)
– World Computer Exchange (WCE) provides computers and support services in education, environment, and economic development to help connect more youth to the Internet through our 400 formal Partners in 58 developing countries.
– WCE leads a consortium of 18 global organisations in raising public awareness about responsible disposal of computer waste and assisting pilots of computer recycling centres in select developing countries. We are implementing this in Latin America with Quipus Cultural Foundation with generous funding from IDRC.
– WCE leads a consortium of the Association of African Universities and WiderNet at the University of Iowa in delivering and supporting comprehensive digital libraries to schools and libraries supported by ten universities in Africa.
– We are North America’s largest non-profit provider of used computers to help connect more youth in developing countries
– We have connected to the Internet 974,860 youth in 2,258 schools, orphanages, and centres through our delivery of 22,454 donated computers
– Our 155 volunteer Programme Officers help our Partners with planning, fund raising and tech support
