About
The World Federation of Ukrainian Women’s Organizations is a non-governmental organization in consultative status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and with UNICEF.The WFUWO supports cultural, educational, humanitarian and social programs, and advocates the advancement of the status of women, their families and children. WFUWO upholds the principles of political and religious tolerance, and universal human rights.
Activities
- raising funds for and administering scholarship programs for children in less developed countries, including Eastern Europe and South America;
- providing medication, vitamins, food, clothing and medical equipment for the victims of natural and human-caused disasters, e.g. victims of the Chornobyl nuclear meltdown;
- supplying materials, supplies, clothing, healthcare products, food and vitamins to schools and orphanages;
- establishing pre-school centers for children of working women;
- conducting seminars and workshops for the advancement of equal rights for women in our society and thus stimulating women’s interest in self-improvement and development;
- addressing the most current human rights violation: the trafficking of women and children throughout the world;
- publishing a quarterly magazine Ukrainian Woman in the World” in English and Ukrainian that includes articles about the work and programs of the United Nations and its support systems as they pertain to issues dealing with women
