WWF New Zealand was established in 1975 as a Charitable Trust. We are part of the global WWF network working to conserve biological diversity, ensure sustainable use of renewable resources and reduce pollution.
In New Zealand , we have four main areas of focus:
Campaiging on marine conservation, including for the rare Hector’s dolphin, a network of marine protected areas, and more sustainable fishing
Supporting communities in developing countries, particularly the South Pacific, and New Zealand, to take action in their local environments
Promoting environmental education in schools and communities
Promoting personal action to tackle climate change
We form partnerships with government, businesses, landowners, scientists, other environmental and community groups and individuals to find long term solutions to the environmental threats facing New Zealand .
