The Youth Development Centre (YDC) was established in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, in 1996 in order to provide opportunities for international volunteers to serve in local projects working with at-risk and disadvantaged youth in a developing country. Interacting with South Africas wide variety of people, cultures and natural beauty enables volunteers to learn an incredible amount in a short space of time in a way that touches them forever.
We currently have volunteers working in shelters for homeless youth; facilitating leadership camps for school groups; working with homeless children; leading classes and student groups on youth issues; running workshops on HIV and Aids and coordinating a variety of school programmes.
