Mission StatementZimbanathi is a non governmental organisation of people living with HIV/AIDS, that seeks to empower youth who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS through, providing education, care and support, working with organisations and individuals who share the same interest.

Zimbanathi was started in order to bring about awareness on the issues of HIV/ AIDS, create job opportunities for young people and to provide support to the infected members of the community, give necessary skills to the infected members of the community so as to be able to deal with realities of living with HIV/AIDS. Since 2001, the organisation extended its membership and services to include those who are affected by HIV/AIDS. Zimbanathi Project has deliberately decided to work with the youth in the community, because of their vulnerability to the disease. Although there has never been any formal consultation with the affected people who are targeted for the project, the responses to the project’s service serve as an indication that the spread of the disease is in the increase and that the youth are the most affected.
